Autism Spectrum Disorder Services

Effective July 1, 2017, the South Carolina Title XIX State Plan included covered autism spectrum disorder (ASD) services for medically-eligible individuals up to 21 years old.

These services are intended to provide medically-necessary and evidence-based behavioral and psychological treatment to individuals with a confirmed diagnosis of ASD. These services may be provided in the member's home, in their community, in their school or in a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF).

For Members: How to Receive ASD Services

Medicaid ASD services are based on medical necessity. In order to apply for Healthy Connections Medicaid ASD treatment services, the following information is required:

Please contact an ASD provider directly to assist in requesting an authorization for ASD program services. The ASD provider list can be found on the For Members and Families tab under “Find an Autism Provider.”
