Autism Spectrum Disorder Interpreter and Translation Services

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) seeks to clarify the process for fee-for-service (FFS) beneficiaries receiving autism spectrum disorder (ASD) services and in need of interpreter and translation services. ASD providers may continue to utilize interpreter services through the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (SCDDSN) as they have in the past.

Request for interpreter services should be submitted to Daniel Davis at Please include the beneficiary’s name, the provider of ASD services and the provider's contact information. SCDDSN will continue to authorize a number of hours of interpreter services from the group of qualified providers not to exceed 20 hours per month.

SCDHHS encourages providers to visit the ASD website,, for additional information concerning Medicaid ASD services.
